Keeping Busy, 1969
35mm and 16mm, black and white and colour, mono, 68 minutes, edited 1994, digital betacam (film transferred to DVD)
Keeping Busy is a candid study of Superstars Louis Waldon and Viva
shortly after their appearance in Warhol's notorious Blue Movie. Shot
predominately in hotel rooms over a seven-day period in Rome, Michel
Auder documents the mundane daily activities of both stars and their
conversations about scenes in Blue Movie, where both discussed the
Vietnam War and had explicit sex. Keeping Busy is also an endearing
document of Auder's relationship with wife Viva, foreshadowing the
development of his autobiographical video practice.
